Who Can Notarize Documents in Nigeria?

In Nigeria, only Notaries Public are legally empowered to notarize documents. A Notary Public is a senior lawyer (usually 10+ years in legal practice) appointed by the Chief Justice of Nigeria to act as an official witness.

Note: The Corporate Affairs Commission (CAC) and Ministry of Foreign Affairs may also play roles in document certification, but notarization specifically is done by Notaries Public.
